ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING JULY 28, 2010 <br />DRAFT MINUTES 4 <br /> <br />Mr. Sevchek stated chemical treatment would not be an option throughout the <br />county nature areas. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated there would a centralized area to bring diseased trees. <br /> <br />Ms. Bor stated we have an incredible proactive opportunity to involve residents in <br />the process. <br /> <br />Ms. O’Dea stated to add the following under the City Park and Boulevard Tree <br />Management Recommendations: Based upon these calculations, it would cost <br />XX dollars to bring in a contractor. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated he would add the following to the EAB Management Plan: <br />Removal of poorly formed or defective trees should to begin at this time, <br />Cooperate with Anoka County under the Peltier Island Nest Supported Trees and <br />Coordinate with Anoka County approach. <br /> <br />As the Emerald Ash Borer Preparedness Plan is developed, the City has an <br />opportunity to remove trees that are unhealthy while not under quarantine and less <br />costly to do so. <br /> <br />3. Recycle Report for January 2010 through June 31, 2010 <br /> <br />The first half of 2010 SCORE report was completed and submitted to Anoka <br />County. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated the following figures are recyclable tonnage totals: <br /> <br />Paper 342 Tons <br />Metal 27 Tons <br />Glass 98 Tons <br />Plastic 24 Tons <br />Single Sort 351 Tons <br /> <br />Total tons of materials recycled: 842.3 Tons <br /> <br />In addition, there were 3.3 Tons of tires collected <br /> <br />4. Blue Heron Days Parade <br /> <br />The Board requested a new sign to be made for the parade stating the total amount <br />of tonnage that was recycled. <br />
