ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING July 27, 2011 <br />DRAFT MINUTES 4 <br /> <br />Meet behind Target/Kohl’s about 12:00 stated Mr. Asleson. <br /> <br />C. Peltier Island Heron Rookery/Tiger Productions <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated Tiger Productions, who is part of National Geographic <br />Magazine, will be in Lino Lakes to produce a segment on the Blue Heron <br />Rookery. The Environmental Board and the City of Lino Lakes will be mentioned <br />in their production. They will be in town August 1, 2nd and 3rd. <br /> <br /> <br />D. Rice Lake Elementary Rain Gardens <br /> <br />Ms. Andrzejewski stated there are a couple of areas the rain gardens have not been <br />completed. One garden did not have the drain installed and the sand bags were <br />not there. It was stated that Dawn Pape from Rice Creek Watershed District <br />(RCWD), has been contacted regarding this. The garden in front of the school <br />holds too much water. A storm drain needs to be connected and drain tile added. <br />Ms. Andrzejewski mentioned she would like educational signs for the gardens and <br />she had spoke with Dawn Pape, at RCWD, who stated she would have a sign <br />printed. <br /> <br />E. Lino Lakes Trail System Maintenance <br /> <br />Mr. Klaman stated her concerns are the trails behind City Hall. She stated there <br />are three major sites underwater. Mr. Asleson stated the water level in the Chain <br />of Lakes is very high this year. Anoka County is aware of the problems and is <br />looking into the issues. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated he would ask Mr. DeGardner if Public Works could sweep to <br />make safer. <br /> <br />F. Community Gardens discussion and rules <br /> <br />Change the Community Garden Guidelines under fencing to state: Use metal or <br />mesh fencing, no plastic fencing allowed. <br /> <br /> <br />7. ADJOURN <br /> <br />It was noted that the next meeting of the Environmental Board will be on <br />Wednesday, August 31, 2011at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />There being no further business, Ms. Andrzejewski moved to adjourn at 7:50 p.m. <br />Mr. Heiskary seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
