• <br />Subd. 2. Rules and Definitions. <br />A. Rules. The language set forth in the text of this Ordinance shall be interpreted <br />in accordance with the following rules of construction: <br />1. The singular number includes the plural, and the plural the singular. <br />2. The present tense includes the past and the future tenses, and the future <br />the present. <br />3. The words "shall" and "must" +s-are mandatory while the word "may" is <br />permissive. <br />4. The masculine general gender includes the feminine and neuter. <br />5. Whenever a word or term defined hereinafter appears in the text of this <br />Ordinance, its meaning shall be construed as set forth in such definition <br />thereof. <br />6. In the event of conflicting provisions, the more restrictive shall apply. <br />7. All measured distances expressed in feet shall be the nearest tenth of a <br />foot. <br />8. In their interpretation and application, the provisions of this Ordinance shall <br />be held to be the minimum requirement for the promotion of health, safety, <br />and welfare. <br />B. Definitions. The following words and terms, wherever they occur in this <br />Ordinance, shall be interpreted as herein defined: <br />Accessory Building. A portion of the principal building or a detached structure <br />on the same lot which is used for an accessory use. <br />Accessory Use. A use of land or of a building or portion thereof customarily <br />incidental and subordinate to the principal use of the land or building and located <br />on the same lot with such principal use. <br />Addition. A structure-added-to-the- orig+ f-- stroctu -re -at some - time --a #tee the <br />oamp ketioh- sf- the-oiginal:physical enlargement of an existing structure. <br />Adjoining Lot or Land.
