•
•
AGENDA ITEM V. F
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jeff Smyser
P & Z MEETING DATE: April 14, 2004
TOPIC: Liaison to Economic Development Advisory Committee
(EDAC)
BACKGROUND
The Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) is an advisory body appointed by the
City Council to advise the Council on economic development matters. In the past, there have
been liaisons among the different advisory boards, but this has not been a particularly formal
system. EDAC has requested the P & Z to consider if any P & Z member would like to act as a
liaison to EDAC.
This would involve attending occasional EDAC meetings to exchange information on the status
of development policies, projects, and other issues. There is no formal minimum commitment,
and the liaison could arrange his or her own schedule for attending meetings or otherwise
communicating on these topics.
EDAC meets the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 a.m. unless there is no issue to put on the
agenda.
I suggest the possibility that the P & Z as a whole or the liaison may want to propose to EDAC
that alternating attendance of a P & Z meeting by an EDAC member may be a good means of
mutual support (in effect, an EDAC liaison to P & Z).
RECOMMENDATION
If any member of the P & Z is interested, P & Z can appoint a liaison to EDAC.
