CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL <br />Chair Rafferty called the Lino Lakes Planning and Zoning Board meeting to order at <br />approximately 6:46 p.m. <br />II. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />Jeff Smyser, City Planner, stated the purpose of this meeting is to discuss temporary <br />signage, including banners and other foams of temporary signs used for advertising. He <br />reiterated that this meeting is for discussion only, and no decisions will be made or <br />regulations adopted as a result of this meeting. <br />Mr. Smyser gave a short history of the discussion of signage over the past year. He noted <br />that signage has always been an extremely difficult issue at the city. <br />Staff reviewed the city's existing ordinance regulating signage, as well as regulations of <br />other cities. <br />Kathy Hansmann, representative of Fast Break Express, stated that signs are important, <br />especially during grand openings or special sales. <br />Erna Olman, representative of Taco Palace, agreed that banners and other temporary <br />signs are very effective. <br />Ron Mikolai, realtor, pointed out that there are many types of temporary signs, for <br />community events, etc., that regulations will affect. Mr. Mikolai stated that his business <br />gets better results with signs than with other forms of advertising. <br />DRAFT MINUTES <br />
