Each sign shall not exceed the following size limitations; project area <br />under ten (10) acres - 32 square feet; project area over ten (10) acres - 140 square feet. (Amended 6- <br />5-86. Ord. 86 -934) <br />(1) Anoka County Airport Signs. (Entire Section Amended 6 -5 -86. Ord. 86 -934) <br />(1) Wall Signs: <br />(a) The total area of all wall signs on any wall of a commercial licensed building shall not exceed <br />15% of the wall area of that wall when said wall area does not exceed 500 square feet. When <br />said surface area exceeds 500 square feet, then the total area of such wall sign shall not exceed <br />75 square feet plus 5% of the wall area in excess of 500 square feet, provided that the <br />maximum sign area for any wall sign shall be 200 square feet. Wall area shall be computed <br />individually for each tenant in a multi- tenant building based on the exterior wall area of the <br />space that tenant occupies. <br />(b) A commercial licensed building having a wall which faces a runway of the airport shall be <br />permitted a wall sign not to exceed 30% of the wall area facing the runway with a maximum of <br />300 square feet. Only one such sign shall be allowed per commercial licensed building. <br />(c) The total area of all wall signs on any wall of a hangar building, not possessing a commercial <br />license shall not exceed 5% of the wall area of that wall. Such signs shall contain identification <br />information and may not contain advertising information. <br />(2) Freestanding Signs: <br />(a) Only one freestanding accessory sign for each commercial licensed building site per public <br />street frontage shall be permitted. One freestanding accessory sign located along the runway <br />side shall also be permitted for each commercial licensed building. The total area of each <br />freestanding sign shall not exceed 80 square feet. The maximum height of freestanding signs <br />shall be 20 feet subject to Part 77 of Federal Air Regulations (to provide for air space <br />requirements). The sign shall be set back 10 feet from the lot line. <br />(3) Gate Identification Signs: <br />(a) One sign per gate provided the total area of any sign shall not exceed 32 square feet and a <br />maximum height of 10 feet. <br />(4) Area Directional Signs: <br />(a) One sign listing locations of all commercial licensed businesses per street frontage is allowed, <br />provided the total area of any sign shall not exceed 80 square feet and a maximum height of 10 <br />feet. And further provided that only commercial licensed businesses are listed. <br />(5) Review Process: <br />(a) A sign request will be reviewed and approved by the Planning Department after review by and <br />approval of the Metropolitan Airports Commission is received. <br />(6) Non - conforming or Illegal Signs: <br />• (a) Existing as of the date of adoption shall be required to comply with these regulations 3 years <br />from the date of adoption. <br />34.00 -7 <br />01/04/01 <br />zol <br />
