STAFF ORIGINATOR: Paul Bengtson P & Z MEETING DATE: April 12, 2006 TOPIC: CONTINUED PUBLIC HEARING: Conditional Use Permit — Dog Kennel 7933 24th Avenue BACKGROUND Linda Ide has requested approval of a Conditional Use Permit to allow a dog kennel at 7933 24th Avenue. This application is required due to the current animal ordinance which limits the number of dogs kept on this property. The dog ordinance of the city code limits the number of dogs on a property to two. This can be increased to four with the approval by the city of a private kennel license. Exceeding the limit of four dogs requires the approval of a Conditional Use Permit. The following history of this issue was documented through reports issued by the Lino Lakes Police •DePartment: April 7, 2005 Issued a warning for unlicensed dogs and operating an unlicensed private kennel. August 24, 2005 Issued a citation for unlicensed dogs and an unlicensed private kennel. September 4, 2005 Issued a `dog at large' citation. The applicable provisions of Section 503 of the City Code relating to the keeping of animals are determined to be satisfied.
