Memo
Environmental
To: Paul Bengtson
From: Marty Asleson
Date: May 3, 2006
Re: April 29, 2006 Environmental Board Recommendations
The April 29, 2006 Environmental Board made the following recommendations:
• Since it is in a Level 1 habitat area, and an important Greenway area it was
recommended to pursue a Conservation Development.
• It is important to look beyond the borders in design considerations to include
connections between Foxburough and the Saddle Club property.
• Developer should provide for increased public value as presented in the
preliminary review of May 25, 2005. Provision of contiguous, restored and
managed open space in the City Greenway would be most desirable.
• Keep proposed 28 feet roads.
• The proposed Conservation Easement should have acceptable
documentation covering the Easement, tied to Covenants and Restricts ions
of deed and homeowners association. The fees should be tied to the
management requirements outlined in the proposed stewardship plan.
• The plan should show roof -top water directed to grass areas of yards. Rain
gardens, although hard to see (Attachment 9), are designed into the
front of the eastern bank of houses. Recommend this design be
carried over into the western cul -de -sac bank of houses. Curb cuts
should collect water off the road surface and flow into the rain gardens.
These rain gardens should be low maintenance types, have a garden
appearance, and be similar to those gardens designed in the Maple Wood or
• Page 1
