8) Monitor the site's response to initial restoration and management treatments, and refine
management approach and methods as needed; and
9) Install conservation area (outlot) boundary markers and interpretive signage that clearly
defines the boundaries of the conservation area.
Year One (May 1 through December 31, 2006)
Restoration and Management Tasks
• Salvage local- ecotype native forest wildflowers, ferns, and sedges from oak forest areas
that are proposed for development (prior to grading), transplanting in forested (oak)
conservation areas during the second quarter of the year;
• Reed canary grass will be chemically treated with Glyphosate in the fall (third quarters
and fourth), so that the herbicide is translocated into the root systems. Monotypes of reed
canary grass will be treated with a boom sprayer. Small patches of reed canary grass will
be chemically treated with Sethoxydim grass - specific herbicides, to minimize impacts to
associated native grasses and forbs. Spot treatment of reed canary grass will be
accomplished with a backpack sprayer to limit /eliminate overspray;
• Common buckthorn will be cut and the biomass removed from the site. Following
cutting, stumps will be treated with Glyphosate to control re- sprouting. Cutting will be
accomplished with chainsaws and brush cutters (during the second and third quarter of
the year;
• Quaking aspen along wetland/forest transitions will be thinned and managed during the
second and third quarters of the year;
• The wetland mitigation and infiltration areas will be seeded in the fourth quarter of the
year;
• Residential rainwater gardens will be seeded in the second and third quarters of the year;
• Known locations of endangered plant populations will be monitored during the second
and third quarters of the year; and
• Conservation area boundary markers and interpretive signage will be installed during the
second or third quarter of the year;
Year Two (January 1 through December 31, 2007)
Restoration and Management Tasks
• Salvage local- ecotype native forest wildflowers, ferns, and sedges from oak forest areas
that are proposed for development (prior to grading), transplanting in forested (oak)
conservation areas during the second quarter of the year;
• Reed canary grass -will be chemically treated with Glyphosate in the fall (third quarter
and fourth), so that the herbicide is translocated into the root systems.
