•
•
•
MEMORANDUM
May 5, 2006
To: Planning & Zoning Board
From: Jeff Smyser
Subject: Joint Meeting of Boards To Discuss Large Conservation Development
Project North of Main Street: "Nature's Preserve"
Staff has been working with a developer on a large development in the vicinity of the
elementary school on Main St. The project would include lands owned by several
developers and which, combined, totals approximately 240 gross acres. The area has
been noted as an important site from an ecological standpoint because of some rare
species and habitat. There is a wetland complex, part of a large drainage subwatershed,
that would benefit greatly from restoration activity. A restoration plan would be prepared
as part of the development of the property.
It is important that the citizen boards, as representatives of varied community interests,
are aware of the importance of the conservation development planning in the community
and the value of such planning on this site.
Please plan to attend a joint meeting on this project:
Wednesday May 31, 2006 6:30 p.m. Community Room
This joint meeting will include:
City Council
Planning & Zoning Board
Environmental Board
Park Board
Economic Development Advisory Committee
