• <br />• <br />AGENDA ITEM VI B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Jeff Smyser <br />P & Z MEETING DATE: July 13, 2011 <br />TOPIC: Discussion of Metro Transit Service Cuts <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Metropolitan Council operates most transit services in the Metro Area. The legislature's <br />transit finance bill proposal includes a $109 million cut in general fund for the biennium. The <br />final transit operations budget is undetermined, but Metro Transit is planning its budge based on <br />the cut. <br />The attached maps show the services that would be cut. It includes all commuter bus routes that <br />serve Lino Lakes. <br />At the June 27, 2011 meeting of the Metropolitan Council Transportation Committee, John <br />Levin, Metro Transit's Director of Service Development, summarized Metro Transit's plans to <br />provide information and collect public input regarding potential transit service reductions and <br />fare increases, which may be necessary given anticipated shortfalls in the regional transit <br />operations budget. <br />This can be watched online at: <br />http:// metrocouncil .granicus.com /MediaPlayer.php ?view id =2 &clip id =1010 <br />
