<br />LI, Light Industrial District.
<br />GI, General Industrial District.
<br />Purpose. These areas have the prerequisites for industrial development, but because of proximity to residential
<br />1Peas or the need to protect certain areas or uses from adverse influences, high development standards will be
<br />cessary. LI uses include service industries and industries which manufacture, fabricate, assemble or store, where
<br />the process is not likely to create offensive noise, vibrations, dust, heat, smoke, odor, glare, or other objectionable
<br />influences. Generally, these include wholesale, service and light industries which are dependent upon raw materials
<br />refined elsewhere. No new land shall be zoned LI, Light Industrial unless the site or area lies within the City's
<br />MUSA and sanitary sewer and municipal water is available. ,
<br />Purpose. These are areas which, because of availability to thoroughfares, suitable topography, and isolation, are
<br />appropriate for industrial uses of a more intense nature and ones which may have certain nuisance characteristics.
<br />No new land shall be zoned GI, General Industrial unless the site or area lies within the City's MUSA and sanitary
<br />sewer and municipal water is available.
<br />Permitted Uses. In the LI District, no building or land shall hereafter be erected, or structurally altered except for
<br />one or more of the following uses.
<br />1. Bottling establishments to include beverages such as soft drinks, milk, etc., but not including hazardous or
<br />toxic materials.
<br />2. Building material sales.
<br />3. Carpet and rug cleaning.
<br />4. Shops and offices for contractors including plumbing, heating, glazing, painting, paper hanging, roofing,
<br />ventilating, electrical, carpentry, welding, landscaping, excavating, and general contracting, including contractor
<br />storage of equipment and building materials if enclosed within a building, but not storage yards.
<br />5. Feed and seed sales.
<br />6. Greenhouses, nurseries.
<br />7. Laundry, dry cleaning or dying plant.
<br />8. Machine shops and metal products manufacturing when not equipped with heavy (exceeding fifty (50) ton
<br />pressure) punch presses, drop forges, riveting and grinding machines or any equipment which may create noise,
<br />vibration, smoke, odors, heat, or glare, etc., disturbing to adjacent property occupants.
<br />Manufacturing or assembly of a wide variety of products that produces no exterior noise, glare, fumes,
<br />i bnoxious products, by- products, or wastes, or creates other objectionable impact on the environment, including the
<br />generation of large volumes of traffic. Examples of such uses are: a. Fabrication or assembly of small products such
<br />as optical, electronic, pharmaceutical, medical supplies, and equipment. b.Printing and publishing.
<br />10. Professional offices.
<br />11. Radio and television stations.
<br />12. Recreational business contained entirely within the principal building.
<br />13. Mass transit terminals.
<br />14. Warehousing and distribution facilities but not including truck freight trucking terminal or mini self - storage
<br />facilities per Section 1, Subd. 2.B of this Ordinance.
<br />15. Wholesale businesses and offices.
<br />16. Community Gardens operated by the city.
<br />Permitted Uses. In the GI District, no building or land shall be used and no building shall be erected, converted, or
<br />structurally altered unless otherwise provided herein, except for one or more of the following uses.

<br />2. Fences as regulated by Section 3, Subd. 4.R of this Ordinance.
<br />3. Off - street loading as regulated by Section 3, Subd. 6. of this Ordinance.
<br />4. Off - street parking as regulated by Section 3, Subd. 5. of this Ordinance.
<br />5. Radio and television receiving antennas, satellite dishes, TVROs three (3) meters or less in diameter, short-
<br />wave dispatching antennas, or those necessary for the operation of electronic equipment including radio receivers,
<br />ham radio transmitters and television receivers as regulated by Section 3, Subd. 15 of this Ordinance.
<br />6. Signs as regulated by the city sign ordinance, Ord. No. 12 -97, as amended, of the City Code.
<br />Accessory Uses. Subject to applicable provisions of this Ordinance, the following are accessory uses in the GI
<br />District:
