PLANNING & ZONING BOARD
AGENDA ITEM 6A
• STAFF ORIGINATOR: Michael Grochala, Community Development Director
MEETING DATE: November 14, 2012
REQUEST: Discussion Item: Temporary Signs
•
•
REVIEW DEADLINE: Not Applicable, City initiated
BACKGROUND
The City Council has received some concerns regarding the City's temporary sign requirements.
The expressed concerns appear to deal primarily with the length of the time period allowed.
The Sign Code currently limits temporary sign displays as follows:
One temporary sign permit is allowed per quarter of any calendar year. Permit is good for
17 consecutive days.
The time limitations appear to be problematic for institutional uses that have periodic events such as
boy scout signups, athletic tryouts, camps etc. Commercial uses that have similar frequent "events"
or "specials" have also have similar concerns.
REQUESTED BOARD DIRECTION
The City Council has requested that the Planning & Zoning Board review these standards and
determine if any changes are warranted.
