Subpart g that establishes the requirement for areas to be landscaped was deleted and <br />relocated to the General Landscaping Standards section (Section 9). <br />Section 6. Buffer and Screen Requirements. <br />The screening requirement for development abutting adjacent, less intense, residential <br />uses was amended to clarify that screening would not be required on the side considered <br />to be the front of a property. <br />Section 7. Boulevard Tree Standards. <br />Subpart a. was amended to clarify that boulevard trees are required in new residential <br />subdivisions. Commercial, Industrial and Institutional uses would not be subject to this <br />provision. Those areas are subject to the Canopy Coverage and Open Areas <br />requirements. Prior language of subpart a. was moved to subpart d. <br />Subpart b. establishes the rate of planting. Single family and two family lots require one <br />tree per frontage. All other residential properties are subject to 1 tree per 70 lineal feet. <br />Subpart c. Trees are required to be planted within 14 feet of the curb /pavement line or as <br />determined by the City Forester. <br />Subpart d. Allows for City planting of boulevard trees and establishment of standard tree <br />• fee. This provision was previously included in subpart a. <br />• <br />Section 8. Sod and Ground Cover <br />This is a new section to address standards erroneously deleted in prior ordinance update. <br />The section establishes the requirement for ground cover including top soil and sodding. <br />Allows for seeding in lieu of sod under certain cases which include single family and <br />two - family home construction. <br />Also includes exception to sod/seed requirements for future expansion areas, mulched <br />areas and native planting areas. <br />Section 9. General Landscaping Standards. <br />Subpart a. was inserted regarding the requirement for landscaping. This language was <br />previously located in Section 5. Open Area Landscape Standards. <br />Subpart b. was inserted to clarify that a landscaping plan is required for Commercial, <br />industrial public /semi - public, institutional and multi - family uses. <br />Subparts c through k were renumbered. <br />Page 3 Landscaping Regulations P & Z Report 7/10/13 <br />
