AGENDA ITEM 6.A. <br />• <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Paul Bengtson <br />P &Z MEETING DATE: June 9, 2010 <br />TOPIC: Discussion of Outdoor Sales / Farmer's Markets <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Board had previously asked staff to review exterior sales events, and the following <br />information has been gathered to discuss the topic further. For discussion purposes, staff has <br />split these types of uses into four categories. <br />1. Roadside Stands <br />Roadside Stands are meant strictly for the sale of agricultural products grown/cultivated <br />on the site. The current ordinance does not define this use, but it is listed as permitted <br />only in Rural zoning districts, and the following section is referred to: <br />Section 3,Subd. 4.D. Accessory Buildings and Structures. <br />7. Roadside Stands. Seasonal, temporary roadside stands for the sale of <br />agricultural products shall be permitted if: <br />a. They are located in a zoning district which makes a specific <br />allowance for such use; and <br />b. They are located upon the lot on which the produce is grown. <br />c. They are erected at least sixty (60) feet back from the nearest <br />edge of the roadway surface; and <br />b. Adequate parking space is provided off the road right -of -way and <br />safe vehicular access and movements are assured. <br />2. Accessory to Retail <br />The Ordinance currently allows as an Accessory Use in the NB, LB and GB zoning <br />districts, "Outside services, sales, and equipment rental accessory to the principal use <br />and limited in area to twenty -five (25) percent of the gross floor area of the principal <br />building. <br />• <br />
