• <br />• <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />P & Z MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />BACKGROUND <br />AGENDA ITEM V.C. <br />Paul Bengtson <br />December 8, 2010 <br />PUBLIC HEARING: Zoning Ordinance Amendment <br />Amending the Zoning Ordinance requirements <br />Outdoor Sales Lots (not outdoor storage) <br />During the deliberation of how the city should handle farmer's markets, flea <br />markets, transient merchants, and the like; staff identified an issue with the <br />language used by the ordinance for Outdoor Sales Lots. It could easily be <br />confused with these more temporary uses, and clarification is appropriate. <br />As such, staff is forwarding the following draft language to clarify that this use is <br />meant to cover motor vehicle sales. <br />MOTOR VEHICLE SALES — PARKING REQUIREMENTS <br />Staff recommends a change to the parking calculations, eliminating open sales <br />lot, renaming the auto sales lot, and correcting a minor error in the requirement <br />itself. The board could certainly entertain a change to the parking calculations as <br />well. Staff kept the current language to keep an even enforcement of the <br />requirements and to allow coverage of the parking issue based on both the size <br />of the building and the lot itself. <br />Amend Section 3.Suvdivision 5.F.24 as follows <br />24. Auto, Boat, Trailer, Farm Equipmcnt Motor Vehicle Sales Lot. Four <br />(4) spaces per one thousand (1,000) square feet gross sales and <br />office floor area an-GI of the building plus one (1) space per each two <br />thousand (2,000) square feet of gross land area. <br />Amend Section 3.Subdivsion 5.F.26 as follows: <br />26. Open Sales Lot. Ten (10) spaccs or one (1) per two thousand <br />111 <br />larger. <br />
