•
City of Lino Lakes - Woolan's Park
Wetland Delineation Report
Critical Connections Ecological Services, Inc.
December 10, 2009
The upland plant species documented at the transect for Area C include: Northern pin
oak, American hazel -nut (Corylus americana), Interrupted fern (Osmunda claytoniana),
and Penn's sedge. The wetland plant species documented at the transect for Area C
include: Canada blue -joint grass, Glossy buckthorn, Red maple, and Reed
canarygrass.
The wetland soil sample documented at the transect for Area C was comprised mainly
of peat to a depth of 17" with fine sands below to a depth of 32 ". The soil in the upland
pit was primarily fine sand with a thin sandy organic duff layer. The matrix color
indicated a hydric soil (low - chroma) for the wetland soil pit within the wetland boundary.
Organic streaking was present in the upland soil pit. The soils in and around Area C are
mapped as Isanti fine sandy loam.
Area D
Area D is located in the northern part of the park just south of Area C on the south side
of the gas line easement. This area is an upland Northern pin oak dominated woodland
with a wetland fringe dominated by Reed canarygrass and Canada blue joint grass. A
gas line easement is located along the northern border of this upland area. The general
topography rises from the wetland edge up a few inches to where the oaks become
dominant.
Photo of Area D looking to the west at the wetland - upland transition zone
Page 6 of 9
