• <br />• <br />ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING JULY 28, 2010 <br />Ms. Bor made a motion to approve the agenda. Ms. Andrzejewski seconded the <br />motion to approve the agenda. Motion carried unanimously <br />5. OPEN MIKE <br />Open mike closed at 6:35 p.m. <br />6. ACTION ITEMS <br />A. Illicit Discharge Ordinance <br />Mr. Asleson reviewed the Draft Illicit Discharge Ordinance with changes from the <br />Environmental Board meeting in June 30, 2010. <br />Ms. O'Dea reviewed the updated document page by page with Board members. <br />Page 3 delete the word POLLUTE on top of page. <br />Ms. O'Dea would like the layout format changed on page six. She also would like <br />a title added, such as Violations to this section. <br />Ms. Bor moved to pass the document forward to the City Council. Mr. Heiskary <br />seconded. Recommendation to forward to the City Council carried unanimously. <br />7. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />1. Peltier Lake Heron Colony - Tim Sevchek in attendance on behalf of <br />Anoka County Parks Department. <br />Mr. Sevchek addressed questions from Board members regarding Peltier Island <br />signage and upkeep. He presented a copy of the proposed signage for the island. <br />He stated the signs would be either yellow or orange in color and the verbiage on <br />the signs is similar to other signs used throughout the County in environmentally <br />sensitive areas. They county is proposing limiting access to the island March 1 <br />through September 1. He stated he is waiting for final approval on the signs and <br />are shooting for an October installation date. The signs will be placed every 100 <br />yards or so along the island perimeter. It was decided this would be the best time <br />to install signs as not to disturb the birds. <br />Ms. Andrzejewski stated the signs will help inform residents of the <br />Environmentally Sensitive Area. <br />Ms. Bor questioned the number of signs that will be installed. Mr. Sevchek stated <br />they will use GIS on the island to get a more accurate number. They will then <br />have a good estimate of how number of signs and how much it will cost. <br />DRAFT MINUTES 2 <br />
