•
GUIDELINES FOR Lino Lakes COMMUNITY GARDENERS
The following are simple, courteous moves toward cooperative gardening.
Due to the limited parking, please park in a orderly fashion on 77th Ave.
There are NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES in the garden area. You are allowed to bring in fencing
in the spring and remove it in the fall. Also compost can be hauled in. But NO DRIVING INTO THE
GARDEN IN THE SUMMER TIME.
Respect you neighbor's garden, do not walk on their plot.
Absolutely no pets in the garden area.
Children are welcome to garden with you. Please keep the supervised, so they do not disturb your
neighbor or his garden.
Do not litter. Please put litter such as used plant containers and paper in the proper container in the
parking area. Do Not place plants or weeds into the containers.
Deposit weeds into a small pile in your our garden plot. In a week or two they will have decayed and
can be worked back into the soil in your plot.
No produce grown in the plots can be sold for profit. Use if for your own needs or give it away.
Keep plots well cared for. No high weeds which distract from the garden appearance and become an
eye -sore or weed seed problem. Use mulching such as grass, straw or hay to keep the weeds down.
Black plastic also will work but it needs to be removed in the fall as it will not decay.
Fences can be used to keep rabbits away but no higher than four feet, preferably two to three feet high
for metal mesh fencing. Some gardeners have used a fine black nylon fencing called deer guard which
is seven feet high. This appears to work to keep the deer out but can be expensive.
Do not over water. Over watering leaches nitrogen from the sandy soil. Once a week watering for
about an hour or until about one inch of water has been pit on should be enough unless it is very hot and
windy. Also sprinkler watering is prohibited between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. due to the
summer watering restriction. Hand watering can be done anytime.
A use fee of $15 per year will be collected by the City of Lino lakes for each garden plot used for water
use. This fee must be paid before gardening begins.
If you are unable for some reason to plant your garden let the chairman know so another person who is
looking for a plot may be able to plant instead .Call at
If you are unable to continue to take care of the garden during the year and it is going to weed and not
producing anything let know and the plots will be mowed down to keep the weeds from
going to seed and creating more problem for others in the coming years.
YOUR COOPERATION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED BY YOUR FELLOW GARDENERS.
