ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING February 23, 2011 B. Community Garden Draft Rule Review Mr. Asleson presented the draft Community Garden Guidelines. Mr. Heiskary questioned the fencing sections. At one point it states 4'for a fence. Another section states 6 -7' for netting. It was agreed to change wording to read 6- 7' netting. Ms. Bor questioned if it be possible for a person to donate anonymously so that a resident who could not afford the fee could receive a plot? Mr. Asleson stated yes. It was questioned if the gardeners would have to follow the City's odd /even water ban. Mr. Asleson stated hand watering is not subject to odd/even watering. Mr. Asleson stated the City will bring in compost for the garden plots. Change the user fee from $15.00 to $10.00 per plot per year for water and fertilizer. The contact person to sign up for the plots will be Lisa Hogstad - Osterhues, Community Development Secretary at the City. Ms. O'Dea mentioned to include the Community Garden map showing the garden plots and parking on 77th Avenue. It was agreed this would be a good idea to add this as an attachment to the Guidelines. The Board recommended approving the Guidelines for the Lino Lakes Community Gardeners. Ms. Andrzejewski made a motion to recommend with changes and Mr. Heiskary seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously 6. DISCUSSION ITEM A. Peltier Island/Herons Update Interested participants will meet at 9:30 a.m. on February 26 at Ron Marier's home located at 1801 77th Street East, Lino Lakes. From there, volunteers will head out to Peltier Island for maintenance work. Ms. Asleson stated he thought the work will take roughly 3 hours. B. Earth Day 2011 Earth Day will be on April 30, 2011 from 12:30 -1:30 p.m. and 1:30 -2:30 p.m. at Wargo Nature Center. DRAFT MINUTES 2 • • so
