ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING February 23, 2011 <br />B. Community Garden Draft Rule Review <br />Mr. Asleson presented the draft Community Garden Guidelines. <br />Mr. Heiskary questioned the fencing sections. At one point it states 4'for a fence. <br />Another section states 6 -7' for netting. It was agreed to change wording to read 6- <br />7' netting. <br />Ms. Bor questioned if it be possible for a person to donate anonymously so that a <br />resident who could not afford the fee could receive a plot? Mr. Asleson stated <br />yes. <br />It was questioned if the gardeners would have to follow the City's odd /even water <br />ban. Mr. Asleson stated hand watering is not subject to odd/even watering. <br />Mr. Asleson stated the City will bring in compost for the garden plots. <br />Change the user fee from $15.00 to $10.00 per plot per year for water and <br />fertilizer. <br />The contact person to sign up for the plots will be Lisa Hogstad - Osterhues, <br />Community Development Secretary at the City. <br />Ms. O'Dea mentioned to include the Community Garden map showing the garden <br />plots and parking on 77th Avenue. It was agreed this would be a good idea to add <br />this as an attachment to the Guidelines. <br />The Board recommended approving the Guidelines for the Lino Lakes <br />Community Gardeners. Ms. Andrzejewski made a motion to recommend with <br />changes and Mr. Heiskary seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously <br />6. DISCUSSION ITEM <br />A. Peltier Island/Herons Update <br />Interested participants will meet at 9:30 a.m. on February 26 at Ron Marier's <br />home located at 1801 77th Street East, Lino Lakes. From there, volunteers will <br />head out to Peltier Island for maintenance work. Ms. Asleson stated he thought <br />the work will take roughly 3 hours. <br />B. Earth Day <br />2011 Earth Day will be on April 30, 2011 from 12:30 -1:30 p.m. and 1:30 -2:30 <br />p.m. at Wargo Nature Center. <br />DRAFT MINUTES 2 <br />• <br />• <br />so <br />
