4.7. Erosion & Sediment Control <br />Issues <br />Water Quantity, Water Quality and Erosion Control are priority issues for the City. Rice Creek and its <br />tributaries have been subjected to increased surface water runoff carrying heavy nutrient -rich sediment <br />loads, road salts, and hydrocarbon -based contaminants consistent with development pressures. <br />Increased discharge rates have caused serious down- cutting and stream bank erosion. Present water <br />quality conditions present a potential stress to the diversity and population sizes of fish and aquatic <br />invertebrae indigenous to these systems. <br />Goals & Policies <br />Goal: Develop proper mitigation measures to allow disturbed environments to recover as quickly as <br />possible. <br />Policy: Establish erosion control practices for new and re- developments. <br />4.8.
