ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD MEETING February 27, 2013 <br />6. OPEN MIKE <br />Open mike closed at 6:40 p.m. <br />7. ACTION ITEMS <br />No action items. <br />8. DISCUSSION ITEM <br />A. Earth Day <br />Mr. Asleson stated that Earth Day will be on April 30 at Wargo Nature <br />Center. There will be Build Your Own Rain Barrel and information on <br />Emerald Ash Borer, Recycling and Surface Water Treatment. <br />There will be other vendors there with environmental information <br />B. Heron Rookery Update <br />Wayne LeBlanc presented the board with a hand out on the work that was <br />on February 23. He feels that because of the flashing there is an increase <br />in the number of heron's nests. <br />Ms. Bor suggested that a thank you should be sent to the Blaine JC for <br />their donation. And Ms. O'Dea recommends that Mr. Asleson present the <br />Heron Rookery information to the City Council. <br />C. Grants: <br />1. Forest Bonding Grant 2012 -2014 <br />Mr. Asleson was able to get an extension on the grant. <br />2. Solid Waste and Solid Waste/Recycling Update <br />Mr. Asleson presented the board with monthly totals and stated that <br />there was an increase on the months that the advertising post cards <br />went out to residents. Mr. Asleson also stated that the annual city wide <br />recycling day is Saturday, May 4 this year. <br />Ms. O'Dea asked what the difference was between the monthly <br />recycling and the yearly recycling day.
