Lino L®'kms Panes and Itocr o ion
D pas tenant
Pfo2ronn Hi2hllehts
January Park Board Upd®to
YOUTH
Youth Instructional: Our winter session programs are underway. Skating lessons began January 10, Fastpitch Pitching
Clinics began January 11, dance classes began January 12 and our Pre - Kids- er -cise program began January 23. Floor
Hockey, Soccer and Toss, Kick and Catch are scheduled to begin the first week in February. Registration for all winter
programs is strong.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Snow Day: 160 people attended this year's event which was held on Saturday, January 24 at Wargo Nature Center.
This attendance number is much higher than last year, but still not as high as it was the first couple years of the event.
The extreme lack of snow over the past few years and the bitter cold weather have certainly affected our attendance.
We'll continue offering the event and hope that the weather will eventually cooperate.
Sweetheart Dance: Over 120 people are currently signed up for this preschool parent /child event that will be held on
Valentine's Day (Saturday, February 14) at Centennial Elementary School. Activities include dancing to music, a special
Valentine craft, refreshments and sweetheart photos.
• ADULT
Community Outings: Our first trip of the year is "I Do! I Do!" on Valentines Day. Participants will watch the Minnesota
Centennial Showboat's production of "I Do! I Do!" and have lunch at Forepaugh's Restaurant. Approximately thirty
participants are signed up for this trip.
Basketball: Nine teams are participating in the Adult 5- Player Basketball program which is now in mid - season.
Fitness: Cardio Kick Boxing and Yoga saw significant increases in enrollment this season. The department also added
a new program called Ball and Band Fitness.
OUTDOOR SKATING RINKS
Warming Houses: The warming house shelters are operating effectively this winter. We
have received very few complaints over the closure of warming houses. The two
remaining shelters that are open for this season have had steady attendance numbers.
At City Hall Park we issued a code to Centennial Youth Hockey and so far have had no
issues with their use of the building without a shelter attendant.
RECREATION REVIEW
& WEB PAGE
Recreation Review: The spring edition of the Recreation Review will be in homes the
last week of February. This edition, which is expected to be our largest brochure to date,
lied with an abundance of spring and summer program information.
Web Page: Check out our web page at www.ci.lino- lakes.mn.us. Please let us
know if you see anything that needs to be modified on the web page.
Questions? Please call Liz Bursack or Barry Bernstein at 651- 982 -2440.
Snowshoeing on George
Watch Lake at Snow Day!
