Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation
Department
Program Highlights -
April Park Board Update
YOUTH
Youth Instructional: The spring session of many of our youth
instructional programs started this month. Dance started April 4 with 26 youth participating in four Preschool
Dance classes and 6 youth participating in one Tap and Ballet class. Soccer Mini Camp class started April 11
with 23 youth participating in two classes. Toss, Kick and Catch also started April 11 with 12 youth and parents
participating in one class. Floor Hockey Mini Camp started April 12 with 14 youth participating in one class.
Spring session classes will end mid to late May.
Summer Programs: We are in high speed gearing up for summer. Most of ourt -ball, soccer fundamentals and
5 -8 year -old tennis lesson classes are already full. Four of our seven Summer Playground Program sites are
also full, as well as one of our Preschool Playtime sessions. We anticipate that the remaining classes and
program sites will fill over the next month.
ADULT
Community Outings: Our first two trips of the spring filled. They were Banjo Bandits on March 22 and Beyond the
Rainbow on April 20. Our next outing is Orphans /Spam and The Old Mill on May 25. Registration is a bit low at
As time for this trip, but we have high hopes of it increasing. We offered this trip last year, but had to cancel it
e to due flooding in the Austin, MN area. We hope that some of those that wanted to attend last year's trip will
sign up since the threat of flooding is much lower this year and it is very likely the trip will not be cancelled.
Fitness: Our fitness attendance numbers are remaining consistent at about 10 -15 participants per night. We did
not have an opportunity this season to send additional marketing materials to participants, but we hope to prior
to the start of the summer session so that we can continue to maintain our numbers.
Softball: Spring /Summer Softball started Sunday, April 24. We have 12 Co- Recreational and 24 Class D teams
in our leagues this year. The season will conclude the last week of July.
RECREATION REVIEW & EMPLOYMENT
Recreation Review: Work is finishing up on our summer
Recreation Review. It will be going to the printer on May 9 and is
scheduled to be in homes and on the web the last week of May.
Employment: All of our summer positions have been offered and
almost all have been accepted. We received 104 applications this
year for the just over 30 positions available. Although this was a
eat response to our call for applicants, it made the decision
king a bit challenging as we had a lot of good applicants.
Questions? Please call Liz Benoit or Brian Hronski at 651- 982 -2440.
Two of our returning
summer staff. ;....
