Park Board Meeting - March 7, 2005 <br />Minutes <br />• The City is anticipating opening bids in May for summer <br />construction. The County will be officially commenting on the <br />proposed plan for the trail. Staff is working on a plan to <br />inform residents of the trail construction. <br />Paul questioned the pedestrian and bike access due to the trail <br />ending at Pheasant Hills Drive. <br />RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Rick referred to the Program Highlights Flyer from February 2005. <br />He noted the 4th Annual Sweetheart Sock Hop was held on Saturday, <br />February 12 at Centennial Elementary School. One hundred and <br />thirty eight people registered for the event. <br />Rick added the City has received quite a few phone call inquiries <br />about the new registration process and have had some problems <br />with what classifies someone as a Lino Lakes resident. <br />PARKS DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Rick reviewed a memo from Mike Hoffman, Parks Supervisor, which <br />summarizes the maintenance highlights for February 2005. Rink <br />maintenance activity continued with daily sweeping, blowing, <br />shoveling and flooding of all rinks. <br />Rick added snow and ice removal from Rice Lake Elementary tunnel <br />was completed as necessary. Staff is looking for a more <br />permanent solution for next year. <br />Pat requested Rick remind City staff to prune the trees at <br />Birchwood Acres Park. <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />Rice Lake Estates Park Update - Rick referred to a copy of a <br />letter dated February 16, 2005 from Mr. James Keinath, City <br />Administrator of Circle Pines. The letter indicated the City of <br />Circle Pines has not yet resolved this issue. Rick advised <br />Gordon Heitke is meeting with Mr. Keinath tomorrow in reference <br />to this issue. City staff is preparing an official response to <br />Mr. Keinath's letter. <br />Park Board Members indicated staff should urge the City <br />Administrator to get this issue resolved as soon as possible so <br />residents in Rice Lake Estates have a play area this summer. The <br />Park Board also suggested the City of Circle Pines send out a <br />letter to inform residents of the issue and how it would be <br />resolved. The City of Lino Lakes should get a signed commitment <br />from Circle Pines to develop a park area as soon as possible. <br />• Pat Huelman made a motion, seconded by Paul Montain, to recommend <br />that the City of Lino Lakes get a signed commitment from the City <br />2 <br />
