Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation <br />Department <br />Program Highlights - <br />October Park Board Update <br />YOUTH <br />MEA Youth Field Trips: We had a great turnout for our MEA break trips this <br />year. 40 children attended the MadScience and Tropics trip on October 19, <br />42 children attended the Bowling, Lunch and Movie trip on October 20, and 31 children attended the Pumpkin Patch <br />and Apple Orchard trip on October 21. Our next field trip is Maple Maze and More on November 7. Currently 16 children <br />are registered for this trip. Our field trips are a cooperatively run with Blaine Parks and Recreation Department and <br />Centennial Community Services. <br />Youth Football: Our 4th -6th grade players participated in an end of the season tournament October 24 - 29. The 4th <br />grade Lino Lakes Eagles and 6th grade Lino Lakes Vikings won their respective tournaments. <br />Youth Soccer: U10/U12 soccer tournaments were played on Saturday, October 29. We had a great day for soccer and <br />three champions were crowned. <br />Youth Instructional: Our fall youth instructional programs are underway. Registration was strong for many programs <br />including Soccer Mini Camp, Basket "Have a Ball ", Floor Hockey Mini Camp, Preschool Dance and Tae Kwon Do. <br />SPECIAL EVENTS <br />Family Turkey Shoot: The 8th Annual Family Turkey Shoot is just around the corner. It will be held on Saturday, <br />�ovember 12 from 10 a.m. - Noon at Centennial Middle School. Our event sponsors this year are the Circle Pines <br />cington Lions, the Lino Lakes Lions, Lino Lakes State Bank and the Forest Lake Area AthleticAssociation. Our event <br />volunteers are from Centennial High School National Honor Society and Student Council. Feel free to stop by the <br />Family Turkey Shoot on November 12. We'd love to see you there! <br />Breakfast with Santa: Our popular Breakfast with Santa event is just around the corner too. As of 10- 31 -05, 138 people <br />were registered. We anticipate reaching our maximum of 200 by the end of November. Special thanks to Peg Smith <br />and the Lino Lakes Seniors for all their work with the breakfast end of Breakfast with Santa. <br />ADULT <br />Fitness: The first session of fall classes is over and we're gearing up for our second session of classes. Registration <br />has been quite good for our fitness programs this fall. There has been a renewed interest in Cardio Kick Boxing and <br />Slim Express Fitness which is exciting to see. <br />Community Outings: This winter we are losing one of our partners on this program. Centennial Community Services <br />has opted to go in a different direction for their older adult programming. We, however, will still continue to work coop- <br />eratively with Blaine Parks and Recreation on these outings. <br />5- Player Basketball: Men's 5- Player basketball will be starting league play on Wednesday, December 7. We will have <br />10 teams in the league this year. <br />BROCHURE & WARMING HOUSES <br />Work is currently in progress on the winter edition of the Recreation Review. It is scheduled to be in homes the last <br />eek in November. Starting in 2006 we'll begin a new distribution schedule of the Recreation Review. The spring edition <br />be out the first week of February as opposed to the last week of February in previous years. Watch for it! <br />Interviews for warming house staff will be taking place in the next two weeks. Warming houses will be open, weather <br />permitting, on December 19. <br />Questions?
