Park Board Meeting - November 7, 2005 <br />Minutes <br />• The November 7, 2005 City of Lino Lakes Park Board meeting was <br />called to order at 6:30 p.m., by Chair Lindy. <br />• <br />Roll call was taken, members present were Pam Taschuk, Aaron <br />Frederickson, Pat Huelman, Bill Kusterman and George Lindy. <br />Absent members were Katie Boyle and Paul Montain. <br />Also present was Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM OCTOBER 3, 2005: <br />Pam Taschuk made a motion, seconded by Pat Huelman, to approve <br />the October 3, 2005, minutes as presented. The minutes were <br />approved. <br />SETTING AGENDA: <br />Centennial Soccer Club was placed under open mike. <br />OPEN MIKE: <br />Centennial Soccer Club - Mr. Jay Peterson, Centennial Soccer <br />Club, stated he is present this evening to represent Youth <br />Centennial Soccer. He provided his background in terms of the <br />Youth Soccer Club program noting he would like to open a dialogue <br />with the Park Board. <br />Mr. Peterson stated the Club puts in a request every year for <br />field use within the City. He indicated the soccer program is <br />looking for more practice time on the soccer fields. He advised <br />the Club has looked for additional field space in other <br />communities and it appears there is no additional space <br />available. <br />Mr. Peterson requested the Park Board look at adding additional <br />soccer fields at Lino Park and an additional practice field at <br />Sunset Oaks Park. <br />Mr. Peterson noted that Rick has alluded to the fact that the <br />maintenance of fields is a budgetary consideration. He stated <br />the Club is willing to look at alternatives for maintaining the <br />soccer fields. <br />Chair Lindy suggested the Club approach surrounding communities <br />to help with some of the needs for additional soccer fields. <br />Rick distributed a packet that provided the background and <br />information regarding this issue. He reviewed the grid relating <br />to the fields being used by the Centennial Soccer Club as well as <br />the percentage of Lino Lakes residents participating in the <br />program. The grid showed that while Lino Lakes kids represent <br />60% of Centennial soccer participants, the City of Lino Lakes <br />provides 100% of the soccer fields for games.
