2005 PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT <br />ACCOMPLISHMENTS <br />Parks <br />• Installed Birch Street Trail - Blackduck Drive to Pheasant Hills Drive <br />• Replaced indoor matting at Sunrise and Birch Park Buildings <br />• Renovated Birchwood Acres Park including regrading, new backstop, ag -lime <br />infield, irrigation system, and seeding <br />• Repaired and installed dock at Country Lakes Park <br />• Installed park bench at Pheasant Hills Park <br />• Planted 60+ replacement and new trees at various locations <br />• Planted 30 replacement shrubs at Clearwater Creek Park <br />• Moved 60+ prairie plants from Town Center construction site to Behm's Park <br />• Installed 40' split rail fence along trail behind 560 Arrowhead Drive <br />• Sealed and painted major cracks in court surface and installed new nets at Arena <br />Acres Park. Also removed gates and poured concrete pads at entrances <br />• Renovated warning tracks at Sunrise #1 and #2 <br />• Cleaned up and remulched tree and shrub planting along Marshan Park Trail <br />• Sod cut and mulched all young trees (100 +) at various parks <br />• Infield renovation at RLE #3 - Removed lip, moved irrigation heads, added ag- <br />lime <br />• Highland Meadows Park — Removed soil and old mulch from playground and <br />basketball court landscape beds, replaced with fresh mulch <br />• Birch Park hockey rink — Brought in fresh Class V and re- leveled rink <br />• Installed new gates and stop signs at trail entrance on east side of Rice Lake <br />Elementary <br />Recreation <br />• Started on -line registration!! <br />• Implemented new tiered fee structure <br />• Processed 3,545 registrations <br />• Special Events still very popular: <br />o Sweetheart Dance - 138 participants <br />o Family Turkey Shoot - 153 teams <br />o Breakfast with Santa - 182 participants <br />o Snow Day - 463 participants <br />• Summer playground enrollment was highest ever at 376 participants <br />• Tennis program had enrollment of 204 participants <br />• Volleyball academy filled up with 35 participants <br />• Lacrosse programs continue to increase with 195 participants <br />• Improved youth football (286 participants) and youth soccer (377 participants) <br />programs <br />• 2nd Annual TAAG Beach Party had 103 middle school -age youth participating <br />• 28 Party Wagon reservations <br />• 19 Picnic Shelter reservations <br />• 234 "Letters From Santa" <br />• 118 shoppers visited our Secret Holiday Shop <br />• <br />
