Lino Lakes Public Services Department
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439
CENTENNIAL SOCCER CLUB (CSC) FIELD USE HISTORY
April, 2002 Referendum failed for recreation complex that included 5 full size
soccer fields.
January, 2003 City of Lino Lakes hit with drastic funding cuts in Local Government
Aid ($157,000) and Homestead and Agricultural Credit Aid.
April, 2003 Public Services Department decides to reexamine and reevaluate
the use and maintenance of all athletic fields.
October, 2003 Letter sent to CSC requesting information of participants. Criteria to
allocate fields are included in letter.
March, 2004 Participation data sent to Public Services Department. In 2003, 904
total participants in CSC; 520 (58 %) reside in Lino Lakes, 384 (42 %)
reside in other cities.
February, 2005
Public Services Department staff met with CSC Board to discuss
field use. CSC is made aware that Lino Lakes is no longer in a
position to provide 100% of the fields for CSC. Since other cities
represent 42% of the CSC membership, it was suggested to contact
other municipalities to provide soccer fields. Due to the short time
frame, Lino Lakes agreed to again provide 100% of the fields for
2005.
November, 2005 Mr. Peterson from the CSC informs the Park Board that he wants
more soccer fields from Lino Lakes since ft appears that there is no
additional space available. The Park Board suggested that the CSC
approach the other cities (that comprise the 42% of non -Lino Lakes
residents) to secure additional field space.
February, 2006 City staff notifies Mr. Peterson that we will be using CMS #7 on
Thursdays for the lacrosse program. Mr. Peterson disagrees with
the decision made by the city of Lino Lakes to utilize 1 field, 1 day
per week for the lacrosse program (consisting of 68 Lino Lakes
residents in 2005). City staff responds to Mr. Peterson's follow -up
email (dated Feb. 23).
March, 2006 Staff finds out this morning that an email has been distributed to
• Centennial Soccer families requesting that everyone show up at
tonight's Park Board meeting to show that the CSC membership is
upset.
3/6/2006
C: \Documents and Settings \rick.degardner \Desktop \2006 Centennial Soccer history.doc
