Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department 600 Town Center Parkway Lino Lakes, MN 55014 (651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439 www.ci.lino - lakes.mn.us • June 30, 2006 TO: Park Board Members FROM: Mike Hoffman, Parks Supervisor SUBJECT: June Maintenance Highlights Maintenance activity during the month of June has included: • Weekly mowing of all parks (some athletic fields twice weekly). ❖ Weekly garbage collection. • Repaired and installed fishing dock at Country Lakes Park. ❖ Irrigation system maintenance. (Repaired main breaks at Birch, Sunrise, and Highland Meadows Parks.) ❖ Remounted bench at Rice Lake Elementary basketball court. Replaced nets on hoops. • Daily athletic field maintenance and game preparation. • Weekly watering of newly planted boulevard and park trees as well as sod around new gazebos. ••• Storm water compliance inspections. • Burned prairie restoration site in South Reshanau Lakes Estates Development. (Area was sprayed with Roundup first to kill existing vegetation. We plan to total kill the site again in early August, reburn it and then seed it to native grasses and wildflowers. The chemical control and burning is being done to reduce competition from the non - native plants that had taken over the site.) ❖ Fertilized approximately 45 acres of turf. • Core aerated soccer and lacrosse fields at Centennial Middle School and Rice Lake Elementary School. • Repaired picnic tables and delivered to parks. • Flail mowed trail edges. • Replaced 30' of damaged trail along Birch Street (contracted). ❖ Built additional railings onto Trapper's staircase to eliminate bicycles from using private property to access boardwalk. ❖ Equipment maintenance and repair. • Removed Shenandoah Park sign. New sign and landscaping will be installed as part of an Eagle Scout Project. • Assisted Liz with getting playground sites ready. (Cleaned shelters, delivered tables, etc.)
