1 Lino Lakes Parks & Recreation Department
Program Highlights
• June Park Board Update
YOUTH
Playground Program: Playgrounds are up and running! We have experienced a decline in our registration numbers
this year which is probably due to the new format (we received a few complaints about the new format - particularly
from the neighborhoods that have only a morning program this year when last year they had an afternoon program).
We will evaluate the program at the end of the summer and make changes if necessary. Despite the significantly lower
numbers and initial complaints, things are going very smoothly and the kids are having a great time! Total enrolled in
this summer's M/W & T /Th Playground Programs is 272 participants. Last summer's total was 342 total participants.
Preschool Playtime: Preschool Playtime is also going smoothly. We have 18 registered (the maximum) in our M/W
program and 13 registered in our T/Th program. This is slightly lower than last summer's participation levels, but still
very positive. The program is now operated very similar to our Playground Program - it includes the same weekly
themes and visits from the Art Specialist, as well as many similar games and activities. The main differences between
the two are lower staff to child ratios, smaller group size and shorter time frame each day at Preschool Playtime.
Summer Youth Instructional Programs:
T -Ball: We offered 10 classes for 3, 4, & 5/6 year olds the month of June, each class had between 10 -15 registered.
Mini -Hawk Sports Academy: This program for 4 -6 year olds ran June 19 -23 and had 12 participants signed up.
