Bike Para Clearwater
Park Playgr'untet Pry.
Lino Lakes Parks & Recreation
Department - Program Highlights
July Park Board Update
YOUTH
Playground Program: Playgrounds are winding down for the season -
only two weeks to go!. Participants have enjoyed all kinds of games,
crafts, theme weeks and specialist visits. The program will officially
end on August 4 with our Finale party at Sunrise Park. At this time only
62 children are signed up to attend, but we anticipate more registrations this week as folks realize that the program is
coming to an end. The Finale has a Circus theme and will include a magic show by Brian Richards, our bounce,
various carnival games, face - painting and popcorn. Overall, this summer went very well for playgrounds. The new
time /date /etc. options will be evaluated at the end of the season and changes will more than likely be made. An
evaluation of the program will be included with next month's update.
Preschool Playtime: Preschool Playtime is also winding down. The program will end August 3. Everything went pretty
smoothly this year. A few changes that do need to be made for next year are stricter age requirements (must be 3 by
start date) and a requirement about being potty trained. We've found that children under who are not 3 by the start date
have a very difficult time focusing and participating for a two hour time span.
Field Trips: Eight participants attended our trip on July 14 to see the children's show "The Wind and the Willows" at
the Old Log Theatre. Our next trip is the St. Louis Park Pool on July 27 - 15 participants are registered for this trip.
Safety Camp: The 13th Annual Centennial Area Safety Camp is just around the corner. It is scheduled for Thursday,
August 10 from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. at Rice Lake Elementary School. As of July 19, there were 137 participants registered -
e
e maximum is 150. The camp is for children entering 4th grade the fall of the upcoming school year.
outh Sports Recap:
• July T -Ball classes for 3, 4, 5/6 year olds have started and we have 71 participants playing ball.
• Tiny -Hawk Multi -Sport Academy had 18 participants the week of July 10 -14.
• Mighty -Hawk Multi -Sport Academy had 16 participants the week of July 17 -21.
• Soccer Fundamentals, which teaches kids the proper techniques of soccer, has 104 kids signed up for the
July 24- August 10 session.
• Tennis Lessons from July 10 -19 had 117 participants in levels 1 -3.
• Golf Academy, which is a week long golf camp culminating with a 9 hole round of golf on Fridays, had 35 total
participants signed up over 5 weeks this summer.
• Volleyball Academy the week of July 17 -21 had 41 participants.
• YLM Team Lacrosse just finished the season with our 3rd /4th grade team finishing
second in the Stillwater Lumberjack days tournament.
