Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department 600 Town Center Parkway Lino Lakes, MN 55014 (651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439 www.ci.lino - lakes.mn.us September 28, 2006 TO: Park Board Members FROM: Mike Hoffman, Parks Supervisor SUBJECT: August and September Park Maintenance Update Maintenance activity during the months of August and September has included the following: ❖ Assisted the Environment Coordinator with Oak Wilt inspections and v- plowing control work. ❖ Assisted Environmental Coordinator with NPDES (storm water) inspections and compliance. • Watered boulevard and park trees during hot and dry periods. ❖ Trimmed trees and shrubs along city trails for overhead and side clearance. ••• Irrigation system maintenance and repair. • Sod cut and mulched young trees and plant beds at Sunrise, Wenzel Farms, Lino and Highland Meadows Parks. • Mowing of all parks as needed. We are currently trying to mow all irrigated areas twice weekly, weather permitting. • Assisted Recreation Department with Safety Camp set -up and cleanup and moved bounce for playground program. ❖ Ball field game preparation for fall softball program. ❖ Football field layout and maintenance: - Three game fields (CMS 5, 6 and 7). - Seven practice fields (Birch 2, City Hall, Highland Meadows, Lino Parks, Lino Elementary and Blue Heron Elementary Schools.) ❖ Soccer field layout and maintenance: - Seven fields (Rice Lake Elementary). - Three fields (Marshan Park) - Three fields (CMS) - One field (Sunrise Park) ❖ Pruned young park trees at various locations. • Equipment maintenance as needed. ❖ Broadleaf weed control at CMS and RLE schools, Sunrise, Highland Meadows, Clearwater Creek and Birchwood Acres Parks. (contracted) • Aerated soccer and football fields at RLE and CMS. ❖ Over seeded wear areas of football and soccer fields. ❖ Fertilized approximately 45 acres of athletic fields and irrigated turf.
