Lino Lakes Parks & Recreation <br />Department <br />Program Highlights <br />October Park Board Update <br />YOUTH <br />Youth Instructional: Programs are up and running and <br />reaching their half -way point. Many will end next month or the <br />first part of December. Classes have been going smoothly <br />and we have not had any unexpected cancellations or issues <br />with the facilities. Overall, it has been a good season. <br />Fastpitch Softball C , These clinics started on Tuesday, October 24. We have 9 girls participating! <br />C«1t4 T. ; 19 children participated in our annual Pumpkin Patch and Apple Orchard trip on October 19. The <br />children went to Afton Apple Orchard fora hayride, apple - picking, pumpkin patch, corn maze, petting zoo and <br />mega playground. After, they went to Centennial Elementary for activities. Our field trip to the Circus on October <br />20 was cancelled due to lack of registrations. <br />Fall Soccer: Youth Soccer had it's end of the season tournament on Saturday, October 28. We had a glorious <br />day and the weather was outstanding. In the Girls U10 bracket (6 teams) the Express won the championship. It <br />was a great run by the Express since they had to win 3 games and were the #4 seeded team before the <br />tournament started. They defeated the #1 and #2 seeded teams enroute to the tournament championship. In the <br />Alloys U10 division we had the top seeded teams meet in the final where the #1 seeded Sting won the <br />ampionship game 4 -2. Each first and second place team were awarded trophies for their efforts. <br />Fall Tackle Football: Youth Football for 4th-6th grade had its play -offs starting Monday, October23 and <br />culminating with the championships on Saturday, October 28. The football season was a success with the Lino <br />Lakes 5th Grade Raiders winning the "A" bracket championship. Other teams that did well in the play -offs were <br />the 4th grade Rams who won the 4th grade "B" bracket and the 6th grade Texans who finished second in their <br />league and did well in the playoffs. <br />ADULTS <br />Open Basketball: Adult Open basketball is set to start on Monday, November 13 at Centennial Middle School <br />from 7 -9:45 p.m. <br />SPECIAL EVENTS & BROCHURE <br />Family Turkey Shoot The 9th Annual Family Turkey Shoot is quickly approaching. It will be held on Saturday, <br />November 11 from 10 a.m. - Noon at Centennial Middle School. Our event sponsors this year are the Circle -Lex <br />Lions, Forest Lake Area Athletic Association, Patriot Bank and the Lino Lakes Lions. Everyone is welcome to <br />participate in this free holiday event. We encourage you to come and check it out! <br />Breakfast with Santa Breakfast with Santa is filling up quickly. As of 10/31/06, 126 people were registered. <br />We can still take 74 more, but it won't be long before those spots fill too. Breakfast with Santa is scheduled for <br />eturday, December 9 from 8:30 -10 a.m. in the banquet hall at St. Joseph's Church. <br />s ucttuiL We are putting the final touches on our winter brochure.
