Breakfast with Sa03 - Dec. 9, 2006
"Photo with Santa"
Lino Lakes Parks & Recreation Department
Program Highlights
December Park Board Update
YOUTH
Fastpitch Pitching Clinics: Classes for our beginner and
intermediate levels just finished on December 12, we
had 10 total participants signed up.
ADULTS
Open Basketball: Open Basketball on Monday evenings
has been averaging 20 -25 participants per night.
Open Volleyball: Open Volleyball on Friday evenings has been averaging 18 -20 participants per night.
5- Player Basketball: Men's 5- Player Basketball started on Wednesday, December 6. We have 7
teams playing in the league this year!
SPECIAL EVENTS
Breakfast with Santa: Breakfast with Santa was held on Saturday, December 9. 201 participants
attended the event this year - our maximum capacity. Everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast
prepared by the Lino Lakes Seniors and the children enjoyed three craft projects, gingerbread
cookie decorating and photos with Santa. This event continues to remain extremely popular -
.'ve already booked the banquet hall for 2007!
Secret Holiday Gift Shop: The Secret Holiday Gift Shop was held on Wednesday, December 13 and
Thursday, December 14 from 4 - 7 p.m. each evening at Lino Lakes City Hall. Registration for the
event was not required. 88 children visited the shop the first evening and 28 children visited the
second evening. Just over $1900 of product was sold this year at the shop. One change we may
look at for next year is delaying the start time by 30 minutes so that the noise generated by the
participants does not disturb the end of the work day. We may also look into offering photos with
Santa during this time to help alleviate congestion at the shop doors and provide families with
something to do while they wait for their turn to enter the shop.
Letters from Santa: This program continues to remain quite popular. 210 Letters from Santa were
written this year. We will be revising our letter writing system over the next year to include multiple
letters so that we don't send all children from
one family the same letter and so that
children who receive letters for many years
will hopefully not see the same letter twice.
SKATING
Ice Rinks: Due to the unseasonably warm
*other the warming houses and rinks have
opened. We will try to open on Tuesday,
December 26!
Questions? Please call Liz Benoit or Brian
Hronski at 651 - 982 -2440.
"Ooh...just what
Mom has
always
wanted!"
Secret Holiday
Shop -
Dec. 14, 2006
