Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439
www.ci.lino- lakes.mn.us
•
October 30, 2007
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director
SUBJECT: Pheasant Hills Trail Project Update
A lot of progress has been made since the September Park Board meeting when the Park Board
gave approval to proceed with this project. A copy of the site map is attached. As you recall the
Pheasant Hills Homeowners Association (PHHA) has agreed to contribute $5,000 for this
proj ect.
We received the Rice Creek Watershed District permit for this project earlier this month. City
staff also secured an easement to clear trees and begin site preparation for the trail. We
anticipate having the trail corridor cleared by the end of next week. The Minnesota Tree Trust
will be constructing the boardwalk on site. Installation will occur this fall/winter.
We are also looking at clearing the voluntary Aspen trees between the playground area and the
creek to provide better views from the park area. There is still plenty of buffer on the north side
of the creek for the adjacent property owners.
We anticipate removing the portion of paved trail that is no longer needed next spring. Paving
the remaining section of this project will be considered next year.
Staff recommends the Park Board approve the Pheasant Hills Trail Project as an additional 2007
Park Board Goal.
Att: Copy of Site Plan
sw /parkbrd/meeting info/Pheasant Hills Trail Project Update.doc
