• 2007 Playground Program Report • • Join us at the playgrounds for some sensational summer fun! Theme weeks, arts -n- crafts, specialists and games are just a sampling off the fun things we'll do this summer. Program will conclude with a special party at your park. The above description is what appeared in this summer's Recreation Review advertising the Playground Program. Registration began in early May and continued until the program start date of June 18 — with several registrations still coming in the first week of the program. The Playground Program is long time favorite and one that has undergone several changes over the years from the switch to the two day per week option in 2006 due to the elimination of the program's general revenue funding to the return of the general revenue funding in 2007 to support the traditional five day per week structure. In this report you'll find some of the highlights of this summer's program including program structure, registration totals, themes, specialists, staff, and recommendations for 2008. PROGRAM STRUCTURE Morning Program Days /Dates: Monday — Friday, June 18 — August 2, No program July 4, 7 weeks Hours: 8:30 a.m. — Noon Locations: Birch Park & Sunrise Park Cost: $90; $65 Lino Lakes Resident (included a t- shirt) Afternoon Program Days /Dates: Monday — Friday, June 18 — August 2, No program July 4, 7 weeks Hours: 1:00 — 4:30 p.m. Locations: Behm's Park, Birch Park, Clearwater Creek Park, Highland Meadows Park, & Sunrise Park Cost: $90; $65 Lino Lakes Resident (included a t- shirt) Playground Finale This year we ended the program by having the parks conduct their own finale parties. The parties were Hollywood themed based on the week's theme of Lights, Camera, Action. Participants made star frames, 3 -D stars or goofy glasses and were able to get a Shrek tattoo. Activities included everything from playing in the bounce to water balloon games to tie - dyeing t- shirts. Treats were also provided. There was no additional cost to the participants for the finale. T- Shirts T- shirts were distributed to all participants this year.
