• <br />2007 PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS <br />Parks <br />• Renovated Lino Park including demolishing park building, removal of 30 green <br />ash trees, backstop, player benches and concrete pads. Regraded and imported <br />topsoil, installed paved trail loop, irrigation system, seed bed prepped and re- <br />seeded turf areas <br />• Renovated Shenandoah Park boulevard area by removing 30 scrub trees, <br />constructed low berm, replanted area with Hackberry and Red Oaks and seeded <br />for maintained turf area <br />• Holly Drive renovation — approximately 3,000 lineal feet of boulevard was <br />renovated including applying herbicide, roto - tilling and regrading, seeding the <br />areas with salt tolerant boulevard mix, watering daily with tanker truck, and <br />applying start -up fertilizer. <br />• Re- roofed Birch Park warming house <br />• Installed rubber flooring at City Hall Park warming house <br />• Cut, chipped, and stump treated buckthorn at Brandywood and Country Lakes <br />Parks <br />• Planted 45 trees at various locations <br />• Renovated infields at Sunrise #3 and #4, Centennial Middle School #1 and #2 <br />• Installed park bench and concrete pad at Arena Acres Park <br />• Worked with Eagle Scout to install new park sign and landscaping at Birch Park <br />• Twenty -one wood duck houses successfully hatched approximately 140 <br />ducklings <br />• Chipped about 150 Christmas trees at Sunrise and Birch Parks <br />• Recreation <br />• Processed 3,916 registrations (937 via online registration) <br />• Summer playground enrollment was 291 participants <br />• Youth football program (279 participants) outfitted with new uniforms for the 2007 <br />season <br />• Youth soccer 370 participants <br />• Volleyball academy filled up with 43 participants <br />• Special Events still very popular: <br />o Sweetheart Dance - 140 participants <br />o Family Turkey Shoot - 64 teams <br />o Breakfast with Santa - 150 participants <br />o Snow Day — approximately 250 participants <br />• Cougar Soccer Camp had 65 participants <br />• 47 participants in AbraKadoodles art program <br />• 4th Annual TAAG Beach Party had 77 middle school -age youth participating <br />• 43 adults took golf lessons (over 100% increase) <br />• 374 Kites distributed on Kite Day <br />• 220 "Letters From Santa" <br />• 106 shoppers visited our Secret Holiday Shop <br />• 8 Party Wagon reservations <br />• Partnered with YMCA, Shoreview Parks and Recreation, Blaine Parks and <br />Recreation and Arden Hills Parks and Recreation to offer teen programs <br />• New brochure look and format — Full color cover!! <br />• <br />1/3/2008 <br />J:\Ricks Folder \Goals and Accomplish \Parks and Rec 2007 Accomplishments.doc <br />
