Park Board Meeting — November 5, 2007 <br />Minutes <br />Ill OLD BUSINESS: <br />There was no old business to discuss. <br />• <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />8a. ADOPT MEETING CALENDAR FOR 2008 - The Park Board members at the <br />meeting feel that it is very beneficial to have the tour and bbq in September and would <br />like to see this tradition continue. They indicated that it is very informational for them to <br />get out and see what has actually been done or is scheduled to be done. This item will <br />be placed on the agenda next month. <br />8b. 2007 SUMMER PLAYGROUND REPORT - Rick reviewed the report in the packet <br />and responded to members questions. He asked the Board to contact him if they had <br />any additional questions. <br />8c. 2007 FOOTBALL /SOCCER REPORT - <br />There was discussion about the new football jerseys, football injuries and the sale of <br />concessions at the last few football games of the season. Members thought it was a <br />nice touch that the city and high school worked together. (i.e. Lino Lakes teams invited <br />to a Friday night high school football game.) They talked about the large number of <br />participants in both soccer and football. <br />RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Rick referred to the Program Highlights Flyer from October, 2007. <br />PARKS DEPARTMENT UPDATES: <br />10a. June — September Update - Rick reviewed the memo from Mike Hoffman, Parks <br />Supervisor, which summarized the maintenance highlights for June — September, 2007. <br />Rick talked about the work being done at Lino Park and the problems staff was having <br />with seeding, because of the rains. He said they might have to reseed again next <br />spring. He told members that staff re- roofed the shelter at Birch Park. Next year staff <br />plans to replace the siding, windows, and doors.. <br />10b. October Update — Rick referred to the update in the packets and responded to <br />member's questions. <br />DISCUSS POSSIBLE 2008 PARK BOARD GOALS: <br />Rick told members that it was time to start thinking about next year's goals. He <br />included in the packets an updated Park Dedication Fund Summary for their review. <br />The proposed 2008 General Fund budget does include $25,000 for trails. He said this <br />money should be designated for a trail project or they should create a separate <br />designated fund for trails. <br />There was discussion on building tennis courts in the Rice Lake Elementary School <br />area. Rick said the only tennis courts within the city limits (not including Centennial <br />• Middle School) are in Arena Acres Park in the northern part of the city. Members <br />2 <br />
