Yesterday mid 40's, this morning 9 °F with wind chills approaching -35 °. The rinks went from having 1/4" -1/2" of melted water on them to being frozen solid and smooth as glass this morning. Maintenance activities during January have included: • Rink maintenance — daily sweeping, snow blowing, shoveling and flooding of our 4 hockey and 3 pleasure rinks. • Hockey goal repair — weld broken goals, mend holes in nets and relace as needed. • Park building maintenance — clean shelters, bathrooms, and garages as needed. • Equipment maintenance — grease, fuel, wash, clean and repair as needed. • Pheasant Hills boardwalk — construction is well under way, actually nearing completion on the boardwalk connection from Sherman Lake Road into Pheasant Hills Park. City staff plowed the trails into the site. Tree Trust began work on the project on January 14th, they are expecting to complete the project by February 1. They have been using our compressor and post pounder to help lower project costs. • Trail plowing and widening. • Attended Green Expo and recertified Pesticide Application license. • Tunnel maintenance at Rice Lake Elementary School as needed. • Installed shelving in Marshan Park building.
