Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department <br />600 Town Center Parkway <br />Lino Lakes, MN 55014 <br />(651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439 <br />www.ci.lino-lakes.mn.us <br />� a� <br />February 24, 2009 <br />TO: Park Board Members <br />FROM: Mike Hoffman, Parks Supervisor <br />SUBJECT: Park Maintenance Update — December 2008 — February 2009 <br />Maintenance activity during the months of December, January and February has included the <br />following: <br />December: <br />• Snow plowing — December was very snowy, it seemed like we plowed the whole month. <br />Streets, parking lots, trails, and rinks clean them off, more snow, repeat the process. <br />• Rink maintenance — In addition to all the snow, we also had plenty of cold which allowed <br />us to build ice quickly allowing us to open rinks on December l5t . <br />• Tied new netting onto hockey goals. <br />• Building maintenance. <br />• Equipment maintenance. <br />• Inventoried and maintained wood duck houses. Approximately 125 wood ducklings <br />jumped from 52 boxes placed throughout our park system. Thirty two of the 52 boxes <br />had successful hatches. <br />January: <br />• Rink maintenance — Performed daily maintenance consisting of sweeping, blowing, <br />shoveling and flooding of 4 hockey and 3 pleasure rinks located at Birch, City Hall and <br />Sunrise Parks. <br />• Plowing of streets, cul -de -sacs, parking lots, trails, sidewalks and rinks. <br />• Attended Green Expo at the Minneapolis Convention Center. <br />• Equipment maintenance as needed. <br />• Building maintenance as needed. <br />• Trail widening — With all the snow we received in December and early January we were <br />running out of room to put it. We used our Toolcat with blower to widen the trails to <br />create more snow storage. <br />• Made new cut -outs for "Gobbler Games ". <br />February: <br />• Daily rink maintenance. <br />• Building maintenance. <br />• Structural pruning of young park trees. <br />• Structural pruning and street clearance pruning of boulevard trees. <br />
