"We have current areas where we can make that happen with simple changes to code by simply having <br />off -leash areas," Leathers said. "The cost of doing that is nothing." <br />Commissioner Tom Newland suggested putting the dog park into the CIP and setting money aside as <br />part of a long -term planning process that included a workable time frame. <br />"I don't think we are going to come to agreement on something in the next year or two years," he said. <br />"We need to look further out to make sure we have all of our bases covered." <br />Walthour suggested that city staff look at additional areas for a dog park or off -leash area, preferably a <br />location that had natural barriers so the city would not have to install park fencing. <br />"I think a site visit would be a good idea," he said, referring to a trip to the 10 acres.
