• <br />• Up Coming Special Events: <br />o Snow Day is being held, Saturday, January 29 at Wargo Nature Center. This free family event is <br />put on in collaboration with Anoka County and Blaine Parks and Recreation Departments. <br />Refreshments, arts and crafts, live animal show and variety of outdoor recreation activities are <br />provided for families to enjoy. <br />o Sweetheart Party will be held Friday, February 4 at Centennial Middle School for children ages <br />7 and under with their parents. Approximately 100 children are expected to attend from Lino <br />Lakes, Blaine and Centennial Community Services. <br />o Kite Day on June 4. This annual end of the school celebration will take place a Rice Lake <br />Elementary and hopefully good kite flying weather will be in store for this free family event. <br />o New special events that will be taking place in the coming months include: <br />• Princess Party on March 4. We are spending the night making wands, tiaras, necklaces <br />and putting on our own fashion show. This event is for children ages 7 and under and <br />their parents. <br />• Super Hero Boot Camp on April 2. There will a variety of carnival games for the super <br />heroes and their families to complete. Participants are encouraged to come dressed as <br />their favorite super hero. <br />• Spring Fling on April 15. We are kicking off spring with a free egg hunt for children ages <br />11 and under. We hope to use this as another avenue to promote our summer <br />programs. <br />• Family Corn Roast and Community Night on July 28. We are excited to offer this one of <br />a kind family event. We will have live music, a magician, arts and crafts, bounce house <br />and concessions for families to enjoy. <br />• The Lino Lakes Senior Center is fitting well into the parks and recreation department. Our first set of <br />trips are filling up nicely and we have great trips planned for the spring and summer months. Weekly <br />groups are still meeting at their regular times and enjoying the opportunity to have a place to gather. <br />• Tae Kwon Do, Dance Classes, Cardio Kick Boxing, Latin Cardio Dance and Toss, Kick and Catch are still <br />going strong with a core group of followers and new participants joining as well. <br />• The Spring /Summer brochure should be out in homes by mid - February with registration beginning in <br />March. <br />• Baseball Skills camp was a success we had 7 kids participate in the April class. <br />• Cougar Soccer Camp was a big hit again....we had 50 kids participate in the one week camp. <br />• Baseball Camp was a great success...we had 60 kids participate and we had great weather. <br />• Our tennis program ran from mid June until the end of July with about 200 total participants in the <br />summer tennis program. <br />• Our youth golf academy filled up again this past summer and we had 50+ youth golfers taking <br />instruction from Phil Biesanz. <br />• Our Fall Flag football was a success. We had 25 kids playing flag football and we had 4 fathers <br />volunteer as coaches. This class met for 4 weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays. <br />• Our Fall Youth Soccer program has been holding steady with about 350 participants and 75 volunteer <br />coaches. We had programs at the U6, U8 Boys and Girls, and U10 Boys and Girls programs. We had an <br />end of the season tournament for the U10 division. <br />
