The local share can consist of cash or the value of materials, <br />labor and equipment usage by the local sponsor or by donations or any combination thereof. <br />Other: This program finances projects using federal funds through Land and Water <br />Conservation Fund (LAWCON). <br />2. Twins Community Fund "Twins Fields for Kids Program" <br />Purpose: The Twins Community Fund Twins Fields for Kids program provides financial <br />support to improve baseball and/or softball facilities for youth in the Upper Midwest. The <br />program makes matching grants to non - profit organizations and local government units that <br />operate baseball and/or softball programs. <br />Funding Availability: $1,000 to $10,000 <br />Deadline: Throughout the year; 2012 submittal dates not yet announced. (Typically March, <br />May and August) <br />Eligible Projects: <br />• Renovation or construction of baseball and/or softball fields used primarily by youth. <br />• New sod, infield, fencing, and dugouts. <br />Not Eligible Projects: <br />• Lighting, bleachers, grandstands, restrooms, batting cages and scoreboards. <br />• Routine maintenance of fields. <br />Local Match: Matching grant size. <br />3. Baseball Tomorrow Fund (Major League Baseball and Players Association) <br />Purpose: The Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF) is used to promote and enhance the growth of <br />youth participation in baseball and softball throughout the world by funding programs, fields, <br />coaches' training, and the purchase of uniforms and equipment to encourage and maintain <br />youth participants <br />Funding Availability: BTF provides grants to non - profit and tax - exempt organizations and <br />awards on average of 40 grants per year totaling more than $1.5 million annually. Average <br />grant amount is $40,000. <br />Deadline: Quarterly (January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1) Grants are awarded on a <br />quarterly basis after a thorough and selective application process.
