Planning and Zoning Board <br />June 17, 1981 <br />Page. Four. <br />request and asked that he appear before. the Planning and Zoning Board <br />with his request for a variance to construct a residential home in a <br />commercial zone. <br />This matter was to have been on this agenda but had not been included. <br />Mr. Schumacher presented this information to the Planning and Zoning Board. <br />This is a lot of record and is consistent with the surrounding land use. <br />Mr. Prokop moved to recommend approval of this variance for residential in <br />a commercial zone. Seconded by Mr. Doocy. Motion carried unanimously. <br />SPECIAL USE PERMIT - LUTHER'S SPORT SHOP <br />Mr. Aurandt appeared before the Board with the information that the Sport <br />Shop is installing a chain link fence around his property to store the <br />boats. This special use permit request if for the installation of a <br />security arm with barbed wire. This arm will be angled to the inside of <br />the fence. <br />Mr. Bathke pointed out the problems the City has had with the storage of <br />the boats and trailers on the street and the use of the Park parking lot <br />for employee parking. Mr. Bathke felt that one of the stipulations that <br />should be attached to this special use permit is that ALL boats, trailers, <br />and any other equipment be stored on his property at all times. <br />Mr. Schumacher pointed out taht notices have to be sent to the surrounding <br />• property owners. He felt that the special use permit could be approved at <br />this meeting, but no action will be taken by the Council until those <br />persons have been notified, therefore it will not be on the Agenda until <br />July 13, 1981. <br />Mr. Flannery moved to recommend approval of this installation of the fence <br />with the security arm slanted inward with the stipulation that all storage <br />of this property be completely contained within the fenced area with the <br />exception of daytime display of equipment. Seconded by Mr. Doocy. <br />The motion was amended to include the notification of property owners before <br />the final decision is made by Council. Motion carried unanimously. <br />There was no Old Business. <br />Under New Business, The Planning and Zoning Commission asked the Council <br />to study the feasibility of Pedistrian Crossing signs near the two proposed <br />Ice Cream Parlors. <br />Mr. Bathke also asked that the minutes include his resignation as a member <br />of the Planning and Zoning Commission due to conflict with his business. <br />Mr. Prokop asked that the minutes include the Board's appreciation of the <br />work that Mr. Bathke has put into this Board. <br />•Mr. Flannery said he had only been on the Board for only a short time but <br />every meeting has involved a conflict of interst and he said it is almost <br />impossible for his to serve without a conflict of interest and he presented <br />his resignation . He said he would be very happy to serve on another <br />Board but it is impossible to serve as a member of the Planning and Zoning. <br />Mr. Prokop moved to adjourn. Seconded by Mr. Doocy.
