Park Board Meeting - February 5, 2001 <br />Minutes <br />• event that was held on Saturday, January 27, 2001 at Wargo Nature <br />Center. <br />• <br />Rick advised the ski trips went well this season. The first trip <br />on December 28 was canceled due to low registration. However, <br />the numbers increased dramatically for the last two trips of the <br />season. <br />Rick noted the warminghouses are seeing an increase in attendance <br />due to the near normal weather conditions this year. Rick added <br />that staff is currently working on the Spring Activities Guide <br />that will be in resident's homes the last week in February. <br />PARKS DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Rick reviewed a memo from Mike Hoffman, P <br />summarizes the maintenance highlights for <br />stated maintenance activities during Janu <br />maintenance at ten skating rinks. Rick <br />cluded daily rink <br />ities have included <br />he snow plowing of <br />and trail widening. <br />Rick noted approximately 175 Chri s trees have been chipped at <br />Sunrise and Birch Parks. <br />NEW BUSINESS: None <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br />Outdoor Recreation Grant <br />2001, the City Council <br />Outdoor Recreation meant <br />Clearwater Creek Pa <br />- Rick advised on January 17, <br />ri'Tzed staff to submit a $125,000 <br />lication for the development of <br />n January 18, a letter was sent to <br />interested residents regarding the Outdoor Recreation Grant <br />development. Last week ichael O'Connor developed a brochure and <br />hand delivered it to all residents in the Clearwater Creek <br />Development. Rick referred to a copy of the brochure. Mr. <br />O'Connor will be gathering petitions this weekend to indicate <br />support for the proposed Outdoor Recreation Grant Application. <br />A public hearing will be held at the Monday, February 12, 2001, <br />City Council meeting at 6:30pm. Residents will be given the <br />opportunity to comment on the proposed Outdoor Recreation Grant <br />application. The deadline for submittal is March 31, 2001. <br />Funding announcements are expected in the summer or fall. <br />Bill asked how the City Council felt about the grant. Rick <br />Ilkadvised the difficult part of the grant is the matching dollars. <br />However, the City Council was receptive. <br />5 <br />
