£iIuL Laken Pak ad Ree'tea&i tepwdweitt
PKO.g►caac igkQigkto - Wlacck Park wand Update
YOUTH
CLUBS - A week of field trips is scheduled for April 9 - 13. Trips include: Cheapskate and Tropics; Bowling,
Lunch and Movie; Underwater Adventures and Hayride at Diamond T, MN Children's Museum, Harriet
Island and Wabasha Street Caves and Jam the Gym. Currently, we have at least 20 participants signed up
for each trip except the Underwater Adventures and Hayride trip.
Youth Instructional - Winter sessions of our Toss, Kick and Catch, Soccer Mini Camp, Floor Hockey Mini
Camp and Dance programs have ended. Spring Dance classes began this week and our numbers are consis-
tent with past registration. Registration is currently going on for the spring sessions of our Floor Hockey
Mini Camp and Soccer Mini Camps programs. The Soccer Mini Camp program, however, has reached its
maximum capacity. We will be adding a few additional participants from the wait list per the instructors
approval. Due to the popularity of this program, we will be offering 2 -3 classes per season next year.
TACKLE FOOTBALL

We are now offering a youth tackle football program. The local youth tackle football organization
approached our department last fall and after several meetings decided to turn this program over to us.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Registration for many of our spring outdoor activities, such as golf T -ball, tennis and softball has been slow
due to the late spring weather. We anticipate that registrations numbers will pick up with the warmer
weather and match past registration numbers.
EMPLOYMENT
We are currently hiring for a variety of seasonal staff positions including Playground Leaders, Options
Leaders, Maintenance and Athletic Program Instructors. We anticipate filling many of these positions by
late April.
ACTIVITIES GUIDE
Our Spring Activities Guide, which includes spring and summer
programs, was delivered to homes the last week in February.
Our Summer Activities Guide is scheduled to be in homes
the last week in May.
Questions? Please call Liz Bursack or Barry Bernstein
at 651- 982 -2440.
Celebration of SPRING!
Kite Day is scheduled for June 2, 2001
