Page Two <br />7. Anticipate Tough Questions... and have accurate answers ready for them. Be <br />prepared withtatistics, facts, quotes, etc. <br />8. Don't Throw Rocks at Somebody. Emphasize your needs. The benefits of your <br />program. Don't prioritize! Let the public do that. Accentuate the positive. <br />9. Public Awareness should be as comprehensive as possible. The "public" <br />doesn't like secrets...especially government ones! <br />Consider the following items: <br />a. Brochure - probably your key piece. It better be good. <br />b. Newspaper Articles - most inexpensive. Be sure to reach beyond <br />your community. <br />c. Mailings - to support groups and to the converted to remind them <br />to vote. <br />d. Slide Show /Video - for cable TV presentations. Validation! <br />e. Phone Bank - to remind people to vote. <br />f. Displays - in high traffic areas; malls, public facilities. 1 <br />particularly like libraries - where people can ask questions but <br />can't argue! <br />Buttons, stickers - as long as it's in perspective and positively <br />viewed. <br />g. <br />10.
