• Mini Park. This type of facility is intended to provide specialized facilities that serve a <br />concentrated or limited population. Mini parks are typically located within <br />neighborhoods and in close proximity to multi - family development or housing for the <br />elderly. These facilities serve people living within less than 1/4 mile of the mini park and <br />should have an area of 2,500 square feet to 2 acres. The Comprehensive Plan <br />contemplates development of 6 mini parks (15.1 acres) throughout the City. <br />Neighborhood Park. This type of facility is intended to provide both active and passive <br />recreation activities, serving children, teens, adults, seniors and special populations. <br />Neighborhood parks are typically located in neighborhoods and intended to serve <br />people living within 1/4 to'/ mile of the park. The and area comprising a neighborhood <br />park should contain about 14 to 17 acres of which, 50 to 70% should be developed with <br />active facilities. The Comprehensive Plan contemplates development of 15 <br />neighborhood parks (127.0 acres) throughout the community. <br />Community Park. A community park is an area that is intended to be used for passive <br />or community -based recreational activities and gatherings. A community park should <br />contain natural or ornamental qualities and serve several neighborhoods within a 2 to <br />2.5 mile radius. The size of a community park can range between 20 to 80 acres. The <br />Comprehensive Plan contemplates development of 2 community parks (67.0 acres) <br />both of which are located along the south side of Rice Lake. <br />• Community Playfield /Athletic Complex. This type of facility is intended to provide an <br />area for intensely programmed active recreational uses including facilities such as <br />athletic fields, hockey rinks, tennis courts, outdoor basketball and volley ball courts as <br />well as support facilities like on -site parking, concession stands, multi - purpose buildings <br />and utilities. The size of community playfields / athletic complexes should be from 20 to <br />65 developed acres and serve the entire community. The Comprehensive Plan <br />contemplates development of 3 athletic complexes (130.0 acres) including City Hall <br />(northern part of the City), Sunrise Park (located west of Rice Lake), and a third facility <br />in the southern part of the City (located northwest of Cedar Lake). <br />• <br />Joint -Use Parks and Recreational Facilities. The Comprehensive Plan identifies Lino <br />Lakes Elementary, Rice Lake Elementary, Centennial Middle School, and Rice Creek <br />Park Reserve as joint use facilities. These facilities provide recreation and trail <br />opportunities that are provided jointly by Anoka County, the School Districts and City. <br />The Comprehensive Plan identifies 55 acres of and and the 2,500 -acre Rice Creek <br />Park Reserve as joint use facilities. <br />Trails. The trail system is broken down based upon the function that the trail serves <br />including linear corridors, special use trails, park trails, transportation trails, cross - <br />country, ski, horse and snowmobile trails. <br />Table 1 illustrates the type and acreage of park facilities contemplated by the 1992 Park <br />and Trail Comprehensive Plan. <br />5 Lino Lakes <br />Park Dedication Analysis <br />
