• <br />Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department <br />600 Town Center Parkway <br />Lino Lakes, MN 55014 <br />(651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439 <br />July 24, 2001 <br />TO: Park Board Members <br />FROM: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director <br />SUBJECT: Girl Scout Service Award Projects <br />Ashley Grundtner, Lisa Hatlestad, and Esther Neu have recently completed their service award <br />projects by enhancing the city park system. <br />ASHLEY GRUNDTNER - PAINTING AT CITY HALL PARK WARMING HOUSE <br />Ashley's Silver Award Service project consisted of painting the interior of the City Hall Park <br />warming house. This included all walls, window frames, doors, and benches. Ashley also painted <br />several "Charlie Brown" winter murals for area residents to enjoy. <br />Ashley was involved with all phases of her project from material selection to mural design. Ashley <br />completed her project in a very responsible and timely manner and the finished results are a <br />dramatic improvement over the building's previous appearance. <br />LISA HATLESTAD - GENERAL CLEANUP AND NEW PARK ENTRANCE SIGN <br />PROJECT AT SUNRISE PARK <br />Lisa's Gold Service Award project consisted of general clean-up and a new park entrance sign at <br />Sunrise Park. The general clean-up project consisted of tree and shrub trimming, tree and shrub <br />removal, and general cleanup at Sunrise Park. The entrance sign project was quite involved and <br />consisted of the following tasks: <br />➢ Removal of old sign and plant material. <br />➢ Reshaping of berm at old sign location. <br />➢ Removal of storm damaged spruce tree at new sign location. <br />➢ Installed earthen berm at new location. <br />➢ Installed landscape block for raised oval planting bed. <br />➢ Selected and installed plant material. <br />➢ Installed new park sign. <br />➢ Installed landscape fabric and woodchip mulch. <br />➢ Sodded around new sign. <br />• Lisa was involved with all phases of the project from the design of the landscape bed to the laying <br />of sod. She did an excellent job of keeping on task. <br />
